(Senior) Director (m/f/d) Business Transformation | Chemicals and Process Industries
About the role:
European Chemicals industries have been going through a perfect storm in the last years with several fundamental trends impacting the performance of the industry. Our Business Transformation Chemicals and Process Industries sector team has been successful across a variety of urgent and high-impact situations with European and international chemicals companies and continues to expand across EMEA.
You will be part of a growing practice, shaping its success together with a team of experts, while enjoying a high degree of autonomy and responsibility. With a strong consulting track record as well as preferably industry experience in chemicals, energy, or process industries, you will contribute to the further development of the practice. The team advises corporates and PE-backed companies across the full lifecycle — from pre-M&A commercial and operational due diligence to value creation planning and post-merger integration, operational performance improvement, and business transformation.
The (Senior) Director (m/f/d) will lead the execution of client projects, addressing underperformance, restructuring, and M&A challenges, while being practical and hands-on with a clear focus on shareholder value. The role also entails supporting new client opportunities and new services development across the EMEA region.
Your responsibilities:
- Lead a wide range of projects, including business transformation, revenue and cost performance improvement, commercial / operational due diligence and value creation planning
- Conduct rapid diagnostics and evaluate cost reduction and revenue enhancement opportunities
- Work on urgent issues across manufacturing, supply chain management, procurement, G&A optimization and sales force effectiveness
- Develop and implement performance improvement plans, ensuring accountability, ownership and actual P&L impact for corporate and PE-back companies in Chemicals sector
- Contribute to the further development of the Business Transformation practice, including developing winning pitches as well as industries thought leadership
Your background:
- Several years of professional experience in management consulting, including e.g. performance improvement, cost optimization, revenue enhancement, pre- and post-deal work within the chemicals, energy and process industries
- Ideally engineering degree (e.g. Chemicals Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering)
- Ideally relevant industry experience in petrochemicals / chemicals
- Expertise in lean management / production and cost optimization, experience with due diligence and 100-day value creation planning
- Analytical and strategic thinking as well as a structured way of working
- Excellent communication skills, ability to work in a team and high customer focus
- Business fluent in German and English as well as willingness to travel
